Navichord first came to iOS over 2 years ago and has been consistently updated ever since. What’s strange here is that Navichord is already a universal app unlike its free lite version that first appeared just over a year ago. Now, the developer, Denis Kutuzov, has brought it to the iPhone, as a separate app it its own right. This new version for iPhone is priced at $2.99 against the iPad version at $7.99, so if you do already own the iPad version, and for some reason you need or want to get this version of the app it isn’t a huge jump up to get this.
I’m not entirely sure that I get this version of the app though, unless I’m missing something really obvious. If I am, please let me know.
If you don’t know Navichord, it is basically a songwriting tool for making music theory easier. It has Ableton Link so that you can loop progressions in sync with other apps, and you can trigger chords from your MIDI footswitch.

Navichord universal app was introduced together with the iPhone version, not before that. The main motivation for the iPhone-only version was to reach people who focus on the iPhone and not interested in the iPad version. Hence it is cheaper. The full lineup looks like this:
Navichord Lite (iPad only) – limited functionality, free
Navichord for iPhone (iPhone only) – full functionality, iPhone only, low price
Navichord (universal) – full functionality, universal, high price
Ah, there is also an upgrade path from the iPhone version to Universal. iPhone version owners don’t need to pay full price for the universal app (Navichord upgrade bundle), only the price difference between the two.
