Ableton’s Push hardware is making it onstage, but whether or not it suits that purpose for you, it’s an absolute godsend in the studio. Hands-on control of parameters, always-ready grid access to melodies and percussion, and tools for starting ideas from clips to sequences to playing live make it feel indispensable to those of us it’s won over. So, why not give it a handsome home?
My current solutions have gotten as far as … setting it on a desk. Propping it up on … a book. I’m sure many of you readers are doing better.
Here’s one gorgeous example. It gives you a fifteen degree angle – which I think is perfect when you’re seated working away arranging and mixing, comfortable in the sweet spot of your monitors. And it … well, looks really pretty. Thank you, trees.
At 195€ plus shipping, it’s getting close to half the cost of your Push 2, but it makes it look about twice as nice, so that must add up somehow. Behold:

(That’s really what I’d like to be finding at the moment, not these damned Pokemon, but maybe that’s me.)

thats definitely awesome but the price tag is a bit much for something thats gonna get beat to hell (when playing live) and won’t stand up to a touring lifestyle. not to mention is bulky and would take up allot of room and a case, backpack or whatever you use to cary your gear in while traveling. Anther solution is $5 at IKEA.
its a plastic laptop stand that easily fits anywhere it needs to and multiple of them can fit inside each other just in case one breaks. I’m also using this in my production studio and its the perfect angle for seeing everything i need on the push.

I have like 10 of these IKEA things around here. Supereasy to use, durable. Not sure if it’s possible to break these “stands”. I don’t have a Push tho, so I am not entirely sure if these two complent each other.
+1 for the Ikea BRÄDA. It works a treat for Push 1 & 2 🙂
I’m using the Ikea BRÄDA too. The only drawback is that it’s quite light so it doesn’t stay planted very well. But the price can’t be beat. I’ve also used that white, dense packing foam that electronics are shipped in. A couple chunks of that under the back end of the Push works wonders. It doesn’t slide around, and it adds a tiny bit of shock absorption which I quite like.
I agree, it’s quite light, so it’ll bend a little in use, and thus shuffle about a bit. My solution to this is novel, and I’d like to take out a patent on it. Here goes: TWO Bräda, stacked on top of each other.
Feels silly to do, is nearly flawless in use.
For carry luggage I’ve taken to picking up old laptop bags at thrift stores for ~$5. There are jillions of them out there. Often ugly but very functional with pockets, padding, inner straps, etc.
if this was collapsable and had height adjustment I’d buy it immediately.
my little brother built this stand for me last christmas. it’s basically a drum brain stand with a custom top (made of spruce i guess). impressively stable, height adjustable and really encouraging not to bring ALL THE THINGS to a gig. never had to ask for a table again – no more back pain!
the green/yellow thingie leaning against the wall to the right was the first version built by an art student friend of mine moments before a gig, so maybe a bit more ghetto 🙂
I made the rack below for my Elektron boxes and have been thinking about making something similar for my Push 2. Design priorities included ease of taking them in and out, not messing with the cooling, cable access and a gap to allow the plexi covers to still be used. Interesting to see how the Mixingtable rack has been constructed.

Would love to but I don’t have them hosted anywhere. Your Push 2 stand looks great – I have a couple of pieces of oak set aside to make something for mine but haven’t figured out how to accommodate the decksaver that comes all the way down the sides. Keep on making stuff!

I have some of the cheap Ikea stands as well. They work fine for light weight stuff like the Novation Circuit. There is a laptop size one and a tablet sided one that would fit a Volca nicely.
Alternatively, you could forgo the stand and install some custom wood end cheeks like vintage gear. I found this site today, http://www.synthsandwood.co.uk/#!gallery/tu2gp but anyone with decent woodworking skills could cut and stain 2 flat pieces of wood. Find some nifty hardware like brushed stainless allen caphead screws to install.
For Push 1, I found that my old iPad magnetic cover made the perfect riser. Same trick works great for an APC40 too. Sadly, they changed the material for Push 2 and it no longer works with the magnet. I made a little video showing it off… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfsRQbY2EZw
