The hyperactive genius force that is Jakob Haq is back to show you why the iPad can make a great music tool. This time, it seems KORG have updated their deep Gadget app with some advanced MIDI routing features. Okay, MIDI channel may not be the most sophisticated thing ever. But watch what happens when Jakob puts Fugue Machine (the clever note generation tool) with Gadget’s synths:

Beautiful stuff. More details and discussion:

Advanced midi on Gadget is quite a big deal, increases the flexibility of what is already a very useful tool. Ideal as a scratchpad, before dumping everything on my Octatrack.
I’d like to see midi out or sampling, but that would be nitpicking…

agreed, this is a huge deal for me. It’s actually been what’s putting me off using Gadget more. I love the sounds but not a fan of the interface. If it means I can use another app (or desktop-based sequencer) to sequence a set of gadgets, then I’m in! It’s one of the reasons I like the Korg iM1 for functioning as a sound module.

I can’t watch the video right now. Does it mean I can finally attach the beatstep pro and have 3 gadgets running with beatstep sequncer?

Great! I’ve been contemplating Gadget for a while. Does this mean I can use the Patterning app to sequence individual channels in Gadget?
