Want a killer app for Nintendo DS music making? How about scratching, digitally downsampling, and transmitting MIDI wirelessly (for sync to other effects on a computer)? Yeah, thought you might be interested:
Features:
- load .wav file or live-recorded audio
- scratch
- pitch control
- FX “Retrig”
- FX “DownSampling”
- Midi OUT (wireless)
- stylus control
- NDSMotion control
I love the distinctive digital-sounding effects and the integration of visual feedback with stylus control. Version status is “pre-teta-alpha demo”, so use with caution, but it is freely available for download.

Mobile Music: Tracker for Nintendo DS, DS Homebrew Music Roundup
Two things I find amusing: one, that the music games built for DS haven’t been as much fun as homebrew music “tools.” Two, that there isn’t something like this as a built-in instrument in Ableton Live. Attention, developers, on both counts.
LOVE the dual waveform displays!!! The red-green flashing gives it a mobile rave kinda feel, delicious!
Does it detect loop tempo then send midi clock? One could dream.
Piggytracker dev tells me this is a colleague of his. Small world!
I recognize ole' good Aphrodite. Great stuff.
fresh and simple, not too much functionality but well designed. i like this type of application which can’t really do anything serious but makes musical material fun to play with through an entertaining interface. would be nice for educational purpose, like, teach the basics of sample playback, bit- and sampling-rates and loops. can this record also?
Something like this built-in to Live would be great fun. Are there any VSTs that would perform similar functions?
Or I could just pick up a DS…
busoni, yes.
hit start to record via the DS's built in mic. Fun stuff. can't wait to see what else he has in store for us.
Totally sucks that this isn't working on the R4…
a bit limited but very very fun!
