Video is increasingly part of performance, and you’ll notice the major VJ hardware makers — Roland/Edirol and Korg — also happen to be musical instrument manufacturers. Roland and Edirol are even building in automatic communication between their keyboards and their VJ hardware, from low to high end. I think video will increasingly become part of what digital musicians do; many of the VJs I know double as musicians (myself included). I had to cut VJing from my upcoming book Real World Digital Audio for space reasons, but Keyboard Magazine even has a regular live video feature.

That said, would you rather see video stuff on a separate site, with updates at least once a week? Anyone interested in co-editing a site? Those of you uninterested in video, would you rather not have to deal with the regular VJ posts on CDM? Comment here or email me. If I did a site, would be focused on interactive media and video for performance — no Final Cut Pro editing here, thanks.

Your site, your choice I think is a good rule of thumb.

I just don't read the video posts since I have no interest in them, I would assume others do the same. But I don't find them oppressive.

Personally, I really don't care about VJing that much, and sometimes I skip thos posts if I'm busy, but I don't know if I would spin it off into another site. My main reason for saying no would be that I would worry that the quality of both sites would suffer (less updates and such), and that people like myself who have little interest in VJing (but are not completely opposed to reading about it once in a while) would probably rarely to never stop by the VJ site, and therefore never get any information about it. Of course, thats just my opinion, and I'm frequently wrong.

stay with one site and change the name to "create digital media".

I have certainly enjoyed the VJ stories that you have posted and a site to have it all on would be good – but may be more work for you.
I keep an eye on video thing but you tend to have many more stories on your site.
    Keep up the good work..

Me, I'm a Garageband digital musician who creates videos in iMovie because a) I'm a photog and love the visual composition aspect and b) I can compose the soundtracks for my own videos.

My videos are aired in art gatherings a few times a year. So, yes, many of us are fans of both modes of creation. But this site works well as it is. I'd suggest a different site for integrating the two.
