Hey, sometimes it’s the simple things.
I was going to write something, but – well, it’s a tuner. Watch the film, from Ableton Liveschool. And I have to say, Ableton has found a way to make this Device more interesting than previous Max for Live efforts. It even has a histogram.
Perhaps the most newsworthy element here – a sign of the times – is that the resurgence of analog synthesizers has meant that tuning outboard hardware is now again an application for tuners. You’ll see in the video here an example with the classic MOOG Minimoog, but see the Ableton-shot photo below for an Arturia MicroBrute. Keyboardists, not just guitarists, are now using tuners, too.
If only we had some digital means of keeping things in tu– jeez, what the heck is going on, anyway? Strange, cyclical days.
Enjoy!

Yeah finally!
Yeah finally!
Yeah finally!
yes it’s cool. Now I hope they will upgrade the Amp and Cabinet devices as well.

I’m so old, you weren’t a musician if you couldn’t tune your instrument with your ears.
Still true no?
Yet when in a loud place jamming with friends or at home recording different instruments on your own technology can be sweet 🙂
That’s the main thing — if you’re someplace noisy having a tuner is vital. When I played in orchestra and we were tuning up, I’d jam a tuning peg in my ear and tune my ‘cello by bone conduction.
Ah nice technique! Cello is really lovely!
I use tuners to tune feedbacks, put those in samplers and you can play the warmest chords.
& I used to have people ask me to their cribs to tune their guitars for them. I earned a few beers that way.

So you made blog post about tuner plugin?
Exiting times we live 🙂
And i use tuners myself. Rarely ever plugin as i use PolyTune in iPhone. It’s just simpler. 100% of sounds that need tuning come out of speakers of some sort. Only some go to computer. So phone app is bit more useful as it works in all cases.
But as it’s free then why not.

Is it possible to tune drumcomputers? I have a TR-8, but I would really like to tune my Roland MX-1. It doesn’t have a build in tuner so… Fancy video but not very usefull for me.
